Aspiring Ophthalmologists ST1 Course

"I'm posting a review for the Aspiring Ophthalmologists ST1 course which I attended as a prospective OST1 applicant. More details about course on: https://www.medprepcourses.co.uk/

"The Aspiring Ophthalmologists ST1 course is an excellent course that I wholeheartedly recommend to anyone who is serious about getting into ophthalmology training!
A huge amount of preparation has gone into designing this course, which is a 1-day virtual course covering all aspects of the ST1 ophthalmology interview process (including portfolio preparation). It is a very comprehensive and thorough course, covering all types of stations and providing candidates with a systematic framework to structure answers and conduct critical appraisal. The course contains a full mock interview, which according to delegates who interviewed last year was of the same standard of difficulty as the real ophthalmology ST1 interviews! The cherry on top of all this, is that the course also addressed other useful topics such as "life as an ophthalmology trainee" and "how to publish, present and win prizes" (note that the course organizer and tutor has won more than 18 national prizes and published 20+ papers, so I trust his expertise in this area!). I found the course to be good value for money, given all the information and knowledge I gained.

The Aspiring Ophthalmologists ST1 Course is run by Dr Sohaib Rufai, who has a proven track record in success in ophthalmology applications and training. He is a current ophthalmology SpR (currently ST4) who got into ophthalmolgy first time applying straight from FY2 and also secured a competitive ACF post in ophthalmology. He is currently undertaking a prestigious NIHR Doctoral Fellowship at Great Ormond Street Hospital, conducting research about eye disorders in children. He is widely published and has won more than 18 prizes, including a prestigious prize at ARVO.

In addition to being knowledgable about the interview process and requirements, Dr Rufai is a friendly, humble and motivated person who is genuine in his desire to help others to succeed in their ophthalmology applications.

It's been a month since i attended the Aspiring Ophthalmologists ST1 course and I feel a lot more confident in my ability to succeed in the ophthalmology interview and thanks to Dr Rufai's advice, I have made significant improvements in my portfolio in areas I didn't imagine possible!"
